Equipment question

Hello all, new poster here. I know this is a predominantly fly oriented board, but I was hoping I could garner some info from the veterans here. I was wondering what size spinning gear setups people use in the aformentioned "skinny water." At some point this summer I hope to make a midweek trip to the flats. I want to make sure I have a suitable weapon. I don't want to bring a knife to a gunfight! Keep up the great work folks.

You could easily get away with a 7' fast action rod spooled with 200yrds of 12lb test, on a reel with a decent drag system.

I am making my first trip to the flats on Friday. Looks like iffy weather. Any other pointers anybody has would be greatly appreciated.

I use a 7" light action rod with a Penn 4200, spooled with 12 lb. stren clear blue mono. It works for me very well. It really depends on what you are tossing with the combo. This set up handles kastmasters, slugos, poppers, etc. Another story if you sling eels or bait.

I was assuming you were throwing soft plastics like weightless sluggo's, but you could also toss sand eels with that setup
