Corpus info??

Anyone have any good info about sight casting in CC. I've been fishing south and just north of marker 37 around the flats but haven't seen anything. I've tried daybreak to noon and 1000 to 2pm with no luck. Kinda getting disheartened about the whole "Texas: Best Redfishing around" propaganda in the magazines... I mean anyone can blind cast but why not sling bait if that's the extent of the flyfishing challenge in TX...

Kinda getting it

I'm finally starting to learn the CC area, the best way, by doing hours on the water. Caught this speck with the help of my lovely wife feeding the fish a pound of shrimp with our spinning rod. I guess she chummed them into a frenzy. All told she caught about 15 Piggie perch, 6 trout, 6 catfish, 2 unidentifyables, and I caught this decent speck and had a shot at a red coming out of the channel into the flat. I lined him twice and he spooked for good . Unitl next week tight lines...

Snuffy, have you looked into the Team OSO wadefishing group? They might be able to give you a little assistance.

Sightcasting in Corpus Area

Snuffy,

You should try Shamrock Cove, it is on the backside of mustang island. You can launch your boat right by it for free at Wilson's Cut. It is pretty shallow back in the spoil islands and marshes, but good clear water and sightcasting opportunities galore.

Thanks

Thanks gents, AC seems like I keep following you around from board to board. Everytime I find a new one you're already there... Thanks for the info and I'll keep trying however the 1 hour drive from Kingsville is getting kinda stale...

I used to do it every day. I went to school at Texas A&I and lived in Flour Bluff. Makes for a long day.

It's on the south side of Houston, across the road from the Johnson Space Center. It's a quiet little berg within a short drive from almost anything you need. I'd enjoy meeting up for a trip, question is when will I have a break. Working in the oil patch, activity has kept me hopping the last couple of months. I'm hoping to get down to Key Allegro this fall and deal some misery to the specks and reds (of course I had the same plan last year and it failed to happen). I'm hoping to make it to Port Aransas before Labor Day for a little fishing. I'll let you know when I'm heading south. Tight Lines, Chris

Yep

I know what you mean. I'm a jet instructor in K-Rock and I'll be in the imperial valley of CA bombing the desert from august 25 through the 10th of Sep. My Labor day weekend plans are shot, unless I want to throw a fly in the Salton Sea
