My old personal friend and mentor Paul Kukonen personlly showed me how to tie that very fly. Paul used to hold fly tying seminars during the winter months at the Auburn Sportsmen Club when I was a kid.
If you showed promise, and a high level of interest he would show you how to tie more and more complex patterns every time you visited his shop on Green Street Worcester to buy more material.
Just a footnote, the Worcester branch on the United Fly Tyers dedicated two benches with bronze plaques on them in Paul's memory over looking the Barre Falls Dam in Rutland Ma.
Bob... Thanks for that information... it's that kind of info that is extremely important to really get a feel for the history of these flies. If you still have one of those flies or can tye it like he showed you it would be helpful for the History here....
