Crooked Island Bahamas

Did some checking thru archives and wasn't finding much. Anyone here fish Crooked Island? Anyone by chance fish with Clinton Scavella or Micheal Carroll? I'm booked there for late April and would love to hear any report/info.

Was also advised by my booking agent to spend a day with one of these guys on the reefs chumming with pilchards for snapper etc. Would love to know if anyone has done something similar and what flies they found particularly useful. I'm thinking a chartreuse and white clouser, and maybe something similar in silver/white to match the pilchards, but would take any other advice.

Thanks for any input!

J

crooked island

I fished Crooked with Michael and Clinton November of 2003. You will find they are excellent guides with good equipement and know where to find the fish. They had another quide, Ronnie, working with them and he was also good.
Be prepared to walk a good bit up shollow creeks to find the best fishing. So if you are not in shape you should start walking. It will pay off for you. I was there with my son for a week and had 2 days of reef fishing booked. It was fun but did not compare to bonefishing to me so we canceled the second day and went back to the flats.
The thing that stood out the most to me about Crooked was the people. Most friendly and genuinely nice people I have found on any Island. Hope you will be eating at Gibsons, if you are tell her Walt and Robert said hi, great food.
