Yo, Wittich.

Normally would take you up on Rockport this weekend but can't. Thanks x the invite, though. Raincheck?

Hey, thanks for the tip on the BWH group. Looks as though it will be a nice outfit. Just yesterday I exited yet another Texas Coastal fishing forum, Gary's Surfcam, after I logging on and reading some pretty vicious attacks on some of the members. I have zero tolerance for those behaviors.

According to some of the BWH'ers Rockport/Port.A might be the place to go for fishin'. Fischmeister is moving his stuff to Rockport, says POC is too congested and the locals there prefer stagnancy over progress, thus the crappy restaurants and lack of anything for wives/family to do. Matter of fact, Pappy-in-law is renting some pretty nice digs for the family x Rockport in latter half x June and on past July 4. I'll be up on Cape Cod fishin' with RJ of the Reel-Timers early in that period so my arrival at the Rock won't be 'till after the 27th. If you are around maybe we could hook up and you can show me a few of the ropes around there. I used to fish the Rock often when family had a condo on Key Allegro back in the '80's-early '90's. Fishing was lousy then because of the devastating freeze in~81-3? and all the shrimpers that wiped out the nursery. Have communicated with Animal Chris on the subject and he is of the opinion the fishery has recovered. I will have to admit there are fewer shrimpers on the water(I fished the area last summer for a few days, got skunked, couldn't even hook a hardhead with live/dead shrimp.) Had the same lbad luck the week before at the Poco Bueno tournament.

Give us a report on your success/failure of this weekend.

port A

I heard the water was still dirty due to heavy winds, so I will probably cancel the trip and go on the 22nd. Hopefully, things will calm down by then. Capt. Moffet runs a good kayak shuttle service out of rockport ( 100$), where they drop you off at a remote lake. I landed one and few a couple of others. The water was still a little cold.

A $100 dollars!!!!????

If we get down there simultaneouslly I wouldn't charge ya a dime.

To be truthful, I think everyone is jumping the gun on the fishing. It is simply too early. I've done the bays for years in April and have never caught anything.

I'll wait til water is in upper 70's degress then I will attack.

Fished Last Weekend Upper Laguna (Sunday)

Last weekend was ugly as I suspected. My cousin went out with a few other people, did the same as me (nothing) they were using live shrimp. Water was cool and I really didn't feel like fishing slow, if not deeper. Just finished putting a boat together, more of a test run.

Hoping things will be better this weekend. I'll let you know if things improve where I fish. Somehow I expect it will be with less wind (22 mph gusts) and no cold snap. Plenty of birds working some type of food and saw a few shrimp popping out the water.

Good luck either way.

Hey, Sagebrush. I see you are from Chatham, which as far as I'm concerned is Heaven. What you doin' down here? Welcome to Texas!

What's the deal with these little Northers coming back to back? Very untypical for Texas at this time of year and it sure messes up my fishin' plans. The wind up here in Fredericksburg is driving us nuts, don't know from which direction it'll blow from day to day. I see the H2O temps on the bays are hovering at the magic 72 degree mark. Sure hope it warms up. Click the below to check out the weather stations on the various bays. Gives a great deal of info. Get into the website and click on the various flags noted for the locations. NOAA sonsors these up and down the Eastern Coast and Gulf.

Hope everyone has a great fishing season.

hey Bones,

From San Antonio, lived in Massachusetts for about 12 yrs. I did like the striper fishing and trout. Can still imagine those big fish shadows at their favorite haunts on Chatham. I do miss it.

Used to fish rockport growing up, had a house in copano village. Mostly Swan Lake, Rattlesnake Pt, Italian Bend area. Don't remember catching the quality of fish I'm catching now. Since the freeze, stocking programs and management have definitely helped. Also like the return of some Tarpon.

Looks like Saturday is going to be windy in the afternoon. Weather has definitely been unstable.

Thanks for the info. Still have a bit of rigging to do on the boat. Once I get it in shape, (twin transom trolling motors, depthfinder, gps, interior finish) maybe we can meet up.

Sagebrush.

10-Four

No wind this morning at my place. Betcha today and tomorrow might be a great day on the bay.

Also, the SoLunar tables predict this weekend to be the best of fishing according to the sun, moon, and stars allignment.(if ya pay attention to that hocus-pocus)

Looks like we're getting us a Bass Pro Shop in San Antone..........out I-10 across x Fiesta Texas. That's good news, it'll be dead-ahead on the way to the coast, but I'll have to expand my store room to accomodate more "stuff".
