Slappy is nailing the fish on the fly. I launched the yak just after the low last night and started to poke around the outer harbor. the first 45 minutes was slow, so I picked up the flyrod with a 7" mackerel pattern. I moved to the right spot and was on. Even with my lame casting skills I was into the fish including a few legals on the fly. Fish came out of 4'-10' of water with good current.
Continued to pound them with the 10" fin-s; for about two hours every fish was legal size, then it went back to a mix of shorts/legals until the tide died.
Went into the double digits on legal fish, probably half the fish were legal size. Feels like August alreadly.
So far this is turning into a pretty good year. More and bigger fish than last year!
