Lower Cape under the Moon
I had the jones bad yesterday. So, despite the moon, I drove three hours from Western Mass to hit a Lower Cape spot with a friend. Got there before sunset and it was deadsville. Grabbed a burger and beer and headed back to the water at about 9:30. In three hours I had nineteen fish from 20" to 38" (and I lost two good fish, also). Caught most of them on a yellow over white deceiver and then took a few more on sandeel patterns. My buddy had major equipment issues, but managed to get a three before we packed it in. We'd wanted to find a spot out of the wind, but in the end we chose structure and current over convenience. As a recent convert to the fly rod, it was one of most satisfying nights I've had.
