I went with my wife in April 2003. The facility is great, nicest villa we have stayed in. The owner, Brian, is also a very nice guy. However, we had a lot of issues with Bruce, who ran the fishing program, and Margaret, who was the general manager (I prefer not to go into detail on this forum). The fishing was only okay. However, that was more a result of the guides we had. We fished only the flats at Joulters. There were plenty of small to medium bones. Another guest who was a good fisherman had better guides and fished on the west side of the island. He saw many large bones. The creek that runs by the lodge had a lot of fish at certain times, including the largest one I saw on the trip. However, they were pretty spooky when in the creek.
We caught fish on a large variety of flies including light pink charlie, pink mini-puff, gotcha, etc. The water was generally very shallow, so unweighted or bead chain flies work best. The flats at Joulters are beautiful, white sand without shells. The wading is very easy and best done barefoot to keep the noise to a minimum.
