Makos, Makos, Makos...
Anybody from South of the Cape, Islands, or Rhode Island plan on sharking this weekend or next weekend? If so would you mind taking along two Biologists from the University of Rhode Island?
We are trying to put pop-up satellite transmitters on Mako sharks, we have two left and would LOVE to get them all out this year. These will track their movements and depth/temperature preferences over about a three month period.
So if you are going out (or were thinking of going out!) and would like to help out with this, much appreciated!!!.......oh and we have about $200 from the school we can throw towards bait/gas etc. We don't take up much room and we are both pretty expierenced sharkers so it's not like we would just be dead wood on the boat, if it comes down to it I even have all the terminal gear needed (wire, hooks etc). And you get to say you got your hands dirty on real life shark research, c'mon how cool is that?
Let me know if interested. After this weekend we would be willing to travel down to Long Island to go out on a Saturday or Sunday.
cheers
