Last night I was out walking the puppies at the beach in beverly hoping to see some sort of activity. After the walk down the beach we were walking back to the car a hundred yards away when I hit a particularly slimy area of the grass and took a header that would make black daimond skier proud. End result was a broken ankle in 2 places. Thankfully, there were some teenaged students who heard my cry for help and came running and got me back to the car where the pain subsided long enough to drive home, three blocks. I went to the hospital this morning and recieved a cast.
If the students are reading this I want to say thankyou again. It just goes to show you never know when or where help will come from when you need it.

Bummer. Sorry to hear about the break. On the upside, you didn't have to spend hours laying in the grass and you only broke one! Better that it's Oct 12 instead of late May. Now you have an excuse to sift through all your gear and get set for next year! Better yet, a good excuse to spend hours on RT! Good luck on the mend!
Sorry to read about the bad news, I guess you won't get the chance to get out this weekend for one more time. Good thing it happened during the daylight hours, not on some dark deserted " Beach" with no one around. We hope you have a speedy recovery!
mark that sucks. did they have to pin the joint or just cast the mortis? sorry i didnt hear the call for help. hope you feel well. fwiw there are only micros in beverly at this time and the noreaster will soon wash them away.
thanks all,
Try to address everything:
Damned right I am glad it was not may or june.
Wont miss the micros but I did catch a 16" fish on Monday.
No pins. regular ocean blue cast? Cast almost to the knee.
It is going to be a long winter but the physical therapy should control me from the usual winter blues.
The pain is finally starting to subside and I will recieve further instructions on the ankle next week.
I will at be UFT next month to kick off the winter.
thanks again

Sorry bout your ankle, hope you heal good and fast. As far as pain goes, ever try Aleve? that stuff works great for me. I used to race motorcycles, and was a crash test dummy at times. Nothing like a handful of aleve
Ductiboy,Tried Aleve but kills my stomach after a day or two.
The percocet was real good but I become so dizzy that stopped real quick.
Extra strength Advil and Tylenol seem to work well right now.
The pain is just a dull ache so all I have to do is survive the crutches and mount a walking cast of some sort. Now to pick a physical therapist and trainer for the winter So I am ready for next year's fishing!
