DAVEONTHECAPE and I hit a remote spot last night for a ridiculous 14 hour marathon. In that span we had over 100 stripers, and a handful of blues. Wish I could say that there was a magic lure, but really anything worked. Eels, storms, calcuttas (even ones that were missing their tails). Average fish was probably 24in, but there some keepers mixed in. Kept a couple for the grill - nice late October meal!!! Wish I could say that they were all huge, but every fish was fat, irrespective of length. Also learned an important lesson - even if the last two dozen fish were stripers, make sure you check in the dark. I came really close to trying to lip a 12 LB blue!
Tide didn't matter, time didn't matter, bait didn't matter. The most ravenous I have ever seen stripers! Though there were no real monsters, it was one of the most exciting nights of fishing I could imagine. I'd post a pic of my striper thumb, but it fell off sometime around midnight!!!
No sign of the fat lady yet......
