New Timex Tide and Temperature Watch

Looks pretty cool, but I would think that checking the online tide charts would be a lot cheaper:

Tide watches and clocks are very cool. I have 2 watches and 2 mountable tide clocks. But there are significant functional problems. Under the best of circumstances they don't tell you the heigth or depth of the flood or ebb AND they will be accurate for only one location. Sometimes that is manageable and in other places it is not. Usually you want to look at tables to get the heigth anyway And BOTH of the wrist watches were NOT waterproof! Go figure.

These days any mapping GPS unit worth it's salt also gives live tide data at ALL locations. I wouldn't buy any stock in tide watches. The idea is better than the functionality.

What I WOULD like to see would be a computer program that superimposes on a map a colored representation of the tidal progress and flow all along a coastal section and that can be in real time or sped up to study the patterns. Now THAT would be useful!

I have the Ripcurl tide watch. I like it because at a glance I know what the tide is doing in my area. It is very waterproof. The watch can also be use to get an idea what future tides will be.
If at first you do not succeed-sky diving is not the sport for you.
