Berkley Fireline Knots

Can any one recommend a good knot for Berkley FireLine to either mono or dacron backing? I have tried a few different ones but it cuts through everything. I didn't have this problem with PP.

Thanks,

Ray

Have you tried the double uni?

I've used triple surgeons in the past with no failures but I'm going with Slim beauty, with 7/11 turns for this season at the recomendation of the guys at First Light. Easy to tie and tiny with regards to passing through guides quietly. I can't get to slip and part on my bench so I'm hoping for the best.

The uni to uni has worked well for me when connecting Fireline to mono.

try a surgeon's end loop on both and then a loop to loop connection...make the loops big enough to slide the spool thru.

if that doesn't work, try your favorite connecting knot with a little drop of superglue...let it dry for at least 1 hour...preferably overnight...and then continue spooling up.

I use the double uni for all superline (Fireline, Stren and Stealth) to mono connections as long as the mono is under 35 lb test.

For joining it to mono/floro, DOUBLE the braid and then attach using an albright.

For a braid to dacron connection, bimini(80 turn) the braid and blind splice the dacron, double loop/loop them together.

The uni to uni has worked really well for me going from Fireline to fluoro/mono. At a minimum, double the amount of wraps on the Fireline end compared to the fluoro end.

Triple surgeon loop has worked great for years… Easy to tie when soaked and cold, and it’s reliable.

Thanks guys.

I gave up. I tried many different knots. In each case the braid cut the mono.
