Walking bars?

Any ideas/suggestions as to how to get bars to stop walking? What causes the walking? I haven't started tinkering with it yet but its set up 2-3-4-3-2 with 7" squids.

Figure out how to get a higher angler e on your line; outriggers; rod in a T-top holder; line rubber banded to a antenna you doen't particularly care about - height will get the bar out of the water and stop the walking.

the other alternative is to bring it in closer which also will increase the line anglde an get the bar out of the water.

Shorten the lead from the loop at the top of the bar to the bar itself to also help get the bar out. I have some bars with no more than 4" of distance from the loop to the bar.

Thanks Larry. I tried bringing them in, worked some. Held the rod up high, that helped more. Height is the answer for me I think.

How far back from the bar are the first squids in the string? I think these are around 8-10" or so.

I sometimes add one of the oval orange floats to each of the first squids in line. Keep them tight to the bar, add a float, they will run better...

Although it can be tough, thread your squid on the line, follow it up with a float, and then it gets pretty vulgar, make sure no small children are around, proceed to give the inside of the squid a good tongue licking to help lubricate the float to fit in, takes a bit of doing, but the results are worth it.

put a 1 oz egg sinker in the 2 outside, fist row squids and in your stinger, should keep it in line

That's a great idea. Makes a ton of sense. Question, do you want your stinger on the surface or down a couple inches below?
