Crab Ledge 6/13

Fished east of Chatham for SBFT Sunday. Put the lines out at Crab Ledge, my new pink spreader bar drew the first strike. Marco made short work of a 44" fish. Next up was Eric, hooked a decent fish on a bird/green machine chain. We released a 40"+ fish, I'm all for catch & release , but it would be nice to bring home one for the grill. Lines out again, this time Cappy Tom is up, I see a boil and bam the bird/chain goes off again. Cappy's hooked up, another nice SBFT all of 50lbs. The action slowed so we pointed the boat east in search of a 47+" fish. We had a knock down near the BC but it threw the hook. Not a bad start for 06. At least we get a couple of weeks with the 27" limit later this month.

I fished east both days. Saturday was extremely messy. Lots of 5 and 6's. A lot for my little boat to handle. We managed 9 fish on Saturday no keepers.

Sunday was nicer weather wise, 10 fish to the boat. No keepers. Water in the area fished was from 69 to 71. Water depth was 150-200 feet. Fish took machines as well as birds of any color. I also tried a little further east in the shipping lanes south of BC for something bigger but caught a couple more rats.

Did not hear of 2 many people finding keepers. With 19 fish in the boat this weekend, I was hoping for one decent. Still great fishing anyways.

No oportunities for the fly, saw no surface blitzes.
