Baitrunner anti-reverse failure

There was an interesting thread on the wmi.org board on this problem so I thought I'd pass it along.

Cleaning out all my gear at the end of the year, I discovered my Baitrunner 6500's anti-reverse had failed. I delined it, figured I'd clean it out, and deal with it over the winter. After cleaning w/ soap and water, lightly lubing/coating with triflo and drying, my anti-reverse worked again. Lucky me. I had given this no more thought until I saw the the SWF homepage thread with over a dozen people who have been experiencing intermittant anti-reverse failure on all three baitrunner models--works one day, doesn't the next.

I have not taken mine apart as it looks a little more complicated than my Penns, but has anyone else had this same problem? I'd be interested to hear...

Jeff

RE: Baitrunner anti-reverse failure

Jeff- I've seen them have anti-reverse problems rigth out of the box. Seems like about 1 in 10 reels has the anti-reverse problem and another 1 in 10 has a different problem where the spool seems to skip or freeze at the top of the handle rotation. That problem also seems to come and go, and it may be related to the A-R problem as well. The 4500 I have has performed flawlessly for me over the last 3 years, though (knock on wood).
