It's been quiet over here....A little fish porn.....there are still plenty of tuna around off Cape Cod...

Today I had Lorin Finkelstein and his brother in laws Steve and Scott on board....We had planned to fish light tackle tuna.
It was pea soup foggy this am and the run to the grounds was the same....I started marking nice balls of bait and fish and on the second cast we are tight to the first of 7 tuna hookups for the day. I was a tad undergunned this morning and it seemed the tuna would hit the lightest rod we were using which was a 7' Fenwick 15-30lb Saltstick with Cabo 50 and 20lb fireline....Long story short, we got two tuna to the boat....We gaffed one and did a boatside release on the other. We lost 5 do to pulled hooks...A few took us into the over an hour mark.
On the way in we spotted tuna on the surface pushing water and had two tremendous crashes on plugs that never got tight....We would of stayed but one of the guys had to be back by 3 so off we went....

For some of you folks new to this game I thought I would post a pic of palming the spinning reel on the upstroke using a light drag....Without palming you are not going to beat these fish on this light of gear....

Beauty of a fish there. That one appears to be noticeably fatter than our recent fish of similar size. Did you get a length on it?

POV is offshore(TOTO) Andros. Note that you use heavy spinning rather than light conventional revolving spool...is there a technical reason or more angler reasoned? I use Avets SX...LX...MX for my stand up for wahoo, dolphin, and tuna in an old 16 whaler ...don't know if Avets would stand guide service ...but for me the little SX two speed with 30 spectra for wahoo and dolphin and 50 spectra for tuna works for me
