best area fly shops - definitive list
Names of the best regional fly shops pop up here and there in threads, I'd like to see them all in one place.
I know there's one near the MA/RI border some people mentioned, can't remember the name.
I have picked up most of my supplies at Natick Outdoors which has a great tying section. I, of course, miss the finest shop of all, Stoddard's which was my #1 until it folded.
I'll start a separate thread for overall tackle shops.

The Bear's Den in Taunton has more than met my needs. Not to mention great customer service.

We always stop at Goose Hummuck in Orleans and have spent a good amount of money there. Some times they're helpfull, some times they could care less. Not the best customer service I've ever had that's for sure. I'd like to find another shop on our way down to the Cape to stop in.

I'll second that. Got an Allbright off their recent email clearance sale notice. They have annual float tube trips that sound like a lot of fun and sell their famous pollack fly.

North Shore?
Seems like First Light is one of the only shops on the north shore. It is a great place and Nat & Derek are the best, but are there other ones? I've heard that Eldredge Brothers in Cape Neddick, Maine is a great shop but can anyone recommend a shop between them and First Light geographically?

North Shore
There is also "The River's Edge" in Beverly (off 1a)
They're a full-line Orvis dealer. They also have clothes & hunting guns as well as the usual fly shop.

River's Edge is a good shop- David is super helpful and if Capt. Kalil is working, he'll give you good G-2.
Joe- How about Fishing the Cape in Harwich? Orvis dealer, lots of flies and materials and pretty helpful with intel, espeically if you buy stuff.
Does anyone know if Harry's shop will keep operating?

Strongly support other comments to support local shops - not box stores.
I have been particularly pleased with Bear's Den. Great material selection. Also I have had some non-standardl equipment orders, or deciding to buy something they don't have in stock and requesting it be on my door step in 3 days. In all cases they were more than happy to help and I got what I wanted when I wanted.

If you want tying materials, head over to Stone River Outfitters in Bedford, NH. IMHO, the have the best selection with friendly staff. I order a fair amount from saltwaterflies.com too, although technically its not a shop. Chris does a great job over there.
