Westport report, morning 6/17
It was a great morning. Probably will be all day. Fished off Compo beach to Old Mill beach, from the bottom of low tide till 8:30, when I had to get back home. Lots of fish (bass, shad and blues -- even sea robins) of all sizes chasing sand eels. Caught lots, and lost some too. Early (6 AM) the best flies for me were chartreuse/white, medium size clousers fished on an intermediate sinking line. Later, when the sand eels were popping, I switched to olive/black/white clousers to much success. My teeny 350 grain line got too deep as many fish were at the surface and jumping. Get out there while it's hot!
