2/22/09 The EPIC bite...

With all the talk of fishing around here, a couple of us decided we would actually go fishing.

I loaded up a bucket with a couple rods and we set out.

Sam met my son and I at the pond bright and early so we could get into the jig bite. There wasn't much happening, but Jr picked off a couple fish.

Then he scored a bass on bait...

Sam started steadily picking at the fish until the young Jedi soundking showed up.

Jj was in his usual form, pounding out the fish. He picked up this monster and di the classic R-T pose

After Sam took off, the bite really picked up and JJ and Jr were slamming the fish...even fishing 2 lines in the same hole for doubles!

The bluegills didn't stand a chance! There were a few small bass, crappies and pumpkinseeds in the mix, but we slayed the bluegills. After a very slow start, the bite was raging when we left.

JJ chummed the fish up into one of the holes and almost had them breaking on the chum. They were flashing below the hole and we tried to get a pic, but could only get a fishes eye view of a hole.

Tell me Jr doesn't look like a certified grade-a badass holding that fish!

Good times man. Isn't it funny that everytime we go fishing we end up chuckling over something like a camera on a jig rod?

Jr is learning to "stay alpha" without the use of video games or computer generated images.

Yesterdays lesson included waking up in the dark, ice fishing, ice football, a flapjack breakfast, and a lesson on how to remove your fingernail using only a car door and razor blade.

He has already learned to poach others spots and is a born report follower, no sooner did a fish come out of a hole than his jig was dropped into it.

Preachin to the choir, boss. I'm all amped up these past few days. I've just designed the new sickness. Need to drop some off at your place. 4 inch lure, 4 feet of lateral glide.
