Boat ramp near Gardiners Island?

Was wondering if anyone can tell me where is the most convenient place to put in my flats boat to fish the flats of Gardiner's. I will be coming from the city and would like to put in as close to the flats as possible as a long run over the water not familiar to me would like to be avoided. Im plan to get some charts and research this completely but a leg up would be appreciated. Generally, are the flats on the south end of the island, or all around. Has the fishing been good? is the water really as clear as people say? are there better tides and winds than others? are there any local protocol that I should be aware of other than the obvious one such as don't crowd people and pole in above all other boats and not underneath them. I usually catch most flats stripers on Permit flies, do they use the same out east. are they generally larger than permit flies? Anyone with local knowledge want to join me on the casting deck??? thanks again

Brendan,
Believe it or not, this is the most complete list of launch ramps I have found. Check it out http://www.thefishingline.com/ramplist.htm

The one thing Gardiners Island doesn't need is
any more flats boats. It's begining to look like the
L.I.E. out here. Flats boats are getting to be as
bad as jet skiers around here.

RE: Dear McTrout

Your very welcome. And you're right this board
has been dead as a doornail. Looking back I haven't seen
a report from you this season posted here. It's time to
turn off the Walker's Cay reruns and time to do a little
of the real thing. Looking forward to your future in-
formative posts. Best of luck!!!

RE: Boat ramp near Gardiners Island?

What is the access to this ramp (and others in the area) without an East Hampton town pass? Even without the pass, is there either a daily fee or likelihood that it is not enforced (unlike parking at the ocean beaches)? Are there any open to the public ramps anywhere along Three Mile Harbor?

Laos Point

Hey Brendan,

Josh and I used to put in at Laos point. You're right at the Accobonac inlet there. Straight out and you're at Cartwright shoals. Take a right turn out the inlet, you're zoomin' towards Napeague.
