Sea Bass?

This past Saturday I caught 4 Seabass all 10 - 12" at West Island off shore. I was just messing around catching a few scup using squid as bait. I remember cathing one a while ago but it was tiny. I was told these suckers are scarce. Is this true?

Also I didn't keep any of them because I didn't know the size limit. Anyone know? I was told these fish are quite tasty.

Thanks
