2012 CT Trout Stocking Underway

Due to this year’s warmer weather, the Connecticut DEEP has accelerated its stocking schedule.

This week the state stocked at total of 1,160 trout into the Mianus River Trout Management Area.

Wonder if they'll move up Mass as well? Years ago, it wasn't that uncommon to start trout stocking in Mass in late Feb, even through the ice.

DEEP Fisheries Biologist Jerry Leonard said that the warm and virtually snowless winter has kept water levels much lower than normal, which allowed for the early stocking. Although temperatures have dipped to more typical levels over the last couple of weeks, the fish should not be affected.

Ditto for much of the rest of Mass too. Earliest spring stocking I can remember for Central Mass in a while.

The Mianus, Connecticut, Chapter of Trout Unlimited tells us that the state has continued its accelerated trout stocking program by releasing several hundred trout into the Saugatuck River and Mill River Trout Management Areas
