Belated Eleuthera Report

Arrive Feb 7 to a full moon. I've never done well in the areas I fish during a full moon but the fishing picked up around the 12th. We were there for two weeks and the weather was near perfect. We rented a house on the Atlantic side of the island and had many days with a near slick calm ocean. Much better fishing on the southern end of the island. Don't be afraid to throw larger flies, 2s and 4s. I had fish move off their travel path and pick up stationary rabbit flies. That's my version of a mantis shrimp fly that worked pretty well on some marl flats.

Could yould provide additional info on where you stayed?

Did you hire a guide? If so, whom?

Better fishing areas to the south?

we love eleuthera and the fishing is decent. stay in govenors harbor area and then strike out to south end of island with a map and explore . atlantic side bones tend to be happier. flats in tarpum bay and savanah sound get flogged and the fish are spookier. house rentals are very reasonable.

Thanks for the report, Catspaw. We're headed down in May and I've been spending some quality time with the vise. Great reminder that I need to have some big uglies in there - I haven't tied anything bigger than a #8 for the last week.

I'm jealous Catspaw... Yessir, go south young man. I would also highly recommend Denny Rankin in Savannah Sound- he treated me well when I was there.

I have not been in eleuthera but I like the fishing experience of eleuthera

In NAS now awaiting Pineapple Air flight down. Full moon early next week, and thanks for the reminder, Catspaw - brought some big uglies for when all else fails
