Question

Hay Pete,

If you take a glob of that bug bond, dry, and drop in a glass of water, will it float or sink?

Lightbulb 'Specific gravity...

G'day Doug...
Bug-Bond and other Light Cured Acrylics [L.C.A.'s] are "heavier" than water and will sink...
unless, of course, in the unlikely event that you find yourself at the Earth's geographic true center of gravity/mass, in which case all bets are off...
Hook size [weight], salinity, material density and hydrodynamics, and trapped air will all affect the respective rate of descent...

Cheeerz...

Lightbulb 'crustacean photo sequence...

A simple and effective trick to cut down on inadvertent blood letting during the tying process...
FYI: cut and slip a small piece of old phly line over the point... [thanks' Faruk!]

a clum of any buggy looking phur... [in this case, the dark side of a buck tail... raccoon or whatever is handy]...
black bead eyez held on the burnt end of 30# mono and welded in place with Bug-Bond]
some moose mane to suggest buggy antennas...

'palmered Whiting Coq de Leon Dark Pardo...
buzzz cut to phlatten the top...

several Dark Pardo pheatherz welded in to imply the carapace...
some more palmered pheather to complete the insinuation...

'same notion but with some Whiting Bird Fur [grizzly]...
any buggy marabou should do nicely...

nice

Pete, thanks for posting I have not been on Reel-time for a long time ( guide in PA for trout) and I sold my Jones Bros about 4 yrs ago so I have not been doing as much salty stuff lately. But I just got some of the UV cure acrylic so I'm inspired now!

Lightbulb

Eric...
re: L.C.A.'s [Light Cured Acrylics]... don't load is up all at once and chase your tail...
best to do multiple applications / layers and build up as you go...
a thin clear coat [Tuffleye Clear Coat / Hard as Nails / etc] will defeat any tackiness as will leaving the phlyz to ripen in direct sunlight...
