Dockage in Eel Pond Woods Hole

I am looking to find summer dockage for my father, in Eel Pond, Woods Hole - He has a 16' Skiff, normally kept in Green Pond, but he would prefer to be in the Hole. He's looking for something reasonably priced, and with nearby parking - He's retired and doesn't like to haul all his gear down to the boat! I had to pratically give up my (future) first born to get dockage. I finally Buged a marina owner (Prince Cove) to the point that unless he gave me a slip he'd have to take out a restraining order....

Slips/dockage were real scarce on the cape last year - especially ones that are "easy to walk to". And don't even ask about the $ (Min. was 102.00 a foot!) This year I'm keeping the boat in a slip in Boston harbor. I also have a mooring down at the Cape for when those pesky albies make a show.

There are two marinas/docks in Eel pond. Woods Hole Marine (540-2402) might have slips, but they have no parking provisions. Unless you live or work in Woods Hole, it's tough.
The alternative, and probably your better bet, is the other dock, known locally as 'Skinnys', although 'Skinny' died last year. They have parking available for boat owners right behind the dock. Falmouth harbormaster should be able to get you in touch with skinnys, but if you strike out, email me, and I'll ask around for the phone number.
BTW, a minimal slip in Eel pond will run you ~$3k for a season.

How about those places where they put your boat in a rack?

How do those work? And what are the costs? Besides the
seasonal cost is there a charge everytime you want your boat
in the wate

I looked into this a couple of years ago. Pier 47 (I think) in Falmouth has one of those rack systems. You call ahead and tell them you are coming and they are supposed to have the boat in the water when you get there. It is cheaper than slips in the ponds. There was no charge per in-and-out. There is an opening time in the AM before which you cannot get your boat, although they may have provisions for putting in the water at the end of the day before. There is gas and ice right there, and I think they have parking. I ended up not using them so I cannot say whether there are delays or queues during busy times.
