8/19 - Albies in at Montauk

Went out Saturday and saw a few albies at Caswells around 10 am. Cast all over, seeing them surface a few more times, usually only a few at a time, once with 8 fish exploding on the surface. Worked my way west along the south shore and up to about 2 pm, when the tide died, saw pods here and there. Not a whole lot, but enough to get the blood going. One guy, out with his wife and kid, said he managed to land one from a pod near the rocks around Caswells. Someone else told me that some albies were taken on the fly earlier in the week around Moriches, and later that day David Blinken confirmed the same report.

I had a few decent shots at the fish but no albie hookups. I thought I would be skunked, but caught a blue. Actually a few. Specifically two. Little rat blues.

Let the madness begin!!!!

Thanks for the report. That's music to my ears. I was hoping they'd show this weekend. Now maybe with a bit more heat, they'll start to get thick here in the Bight too.
