RE: Sanibel Island Fishing Advice, Please!
I live in NH. Have home in Longboat Key. usually down ther several weeks in the fall. I do not know much about Sanibel Island, but look for places to wade that have some current, and do not forget the grass. All species will hang there. Incoming tide usually the best for wading has been my expeience.
Clousers work well, chart/white, tan/black. White poppers, any brown shrimp looking flies. Spinning any twitch bait, brown jigs, tipped with plastic, gold spoon. dont forget zara spook. This selection will catch snook, reds, trout, flounder, grouper, and if lucky a small poon.
A 7 or 8wt should be good unless you are looking for the big stuff. Floating line with clear tip works well for me. A sinking striper line is good for dredging in deep water. Good luck with the fishing and honeymoon.
