Gotta add my 2-cents......I own both a Tioga and 2 Lamsons. Each has it good and bad points. But IMO for the money the Teton is the one to go with.

The clutch on the Lamson I have on my 10wt. has broken twice for what appears to be no reason at all (wasn't fighting a big fish oof the reel, etc.). The Tioga (#8 for my 8 wt.) landed numerous stripers last season and, I'm proud to add, my first 8 Albies ever. The Teton Tioga is around $150 and spools are relatively cheap. For me, this is great because it allows me to actually be able to afford a few additional line types. Figure this, a Lamson (for a 10wt.) is about $250, plus 2 extra spools @$100 each, plus new line for the new spools @$50 each for a total of $550. The Tioga is $140 plus spools @ $70 each and $50 each for line. Total is $380 - $170 less than the Lamson.

Compared to other reels, the Lamson is a great value. Compared to the Lamson, the Tioga is an even better value - hard to beat. Good luck with whichever you decide on.
