I have a 9'6 salt rodder (from Orvis)for the ocean to get up over the waves, that works well. As far as a type of rod its all feel. I would try a bunch of different rods. Some are stiffer than others. I prefer a stiff one because of the wind conditions of the Cape. Good luck.....
