Tim:
I've been in your shoes (ie: missing the fishing back home). I spent several years living along Lake Erie. There where fabulous runs of salmon from the lake in the local streams but I only fished for 'em once -- I was busy pining for my home trout streams of central Pennsylvania. Now, I realize what a waste that was -- I still haven't caught a salmon when for two years I could have fished for them every day. My point (and I hope you don't mind me making it) is to make the most of the fishing wherever you are. You mentioned you haven't done any trout fishing out where you are. But you just might be sitting on some of the best trout fishing in the country -- certainly you won'y find that kind of water once you return East. I came back from my first trip to Santa Fe which, I gather, is not all that far from where you are. Beautiful water there. Can't wait to visit again.
Cheers
