Josko,

You may want to try the Loomis Mega Taper series rods. I have a GL3 10/11, and it throws my 7" 8/0 Deceivers, no problem, although the loop gets pretty big. I got it specifically for fishing the heavy structure from shore. I'm using 11 & 12-weightt shooting heads, with an Orvis 9/10 DXR. The reel will still hold 260 yards of backing

For comparison purposes, I tried the Sage RPLXi 11-weight at the fly show, and found it impossibly hard to cast all day, truly a, " Broomstick."

RE: Larry, most nine-weight reels will not hold nearly enough backing with a tweleve-weight line on them....

Obviously, Josko, you're welcome to try my setup if I get myself down your way.

Jay
