I spent the weekend in Rhode Island and fished both Saturday and Sunday. I had
about as much luck as anyone else did. It was great to be out there just
practicing. Most of Saturday was spent in Narragansett, between Galilee,
(Salt Pond area), and Narrow River. Unfortunately, with nothing good to report.
I spoke to a few brave souls who all basically were out doing the same thing, just
seeing if there were in fact anything in the water just yet. No reports were
very positive.
I fished Second Beach on Easter Sunday from about noon to 1:30ish with no
luck what so ever. The wind was really blowing hard and it was a challenge
to stay as long as I did. The nice thing was that there wasn't as much seaweed
in the water that usually is there. Walking over a nice mussel bed I couldn't
help but think that sooner or later this area will be exploding with first of
the season schoolies. Who knows, maybe in a week or so. In any event, it will be a while for fish to be up in my neck of the woods
on the North Shore.
