Craig, While it may be true that the truck made a run there, I seriously doubt
that they were stocking Atlantics. Salmon, when they are stocked by the stat are
either smolts or parrs (also fry and fingerling in the tribs)and these fish were
bigger than that. Excess broodstock is sent to the Merrimac. Also note the the Lamprey
is not on the list to recieve salmon. These fish more than likely survived several
years from a previous attempt. Also note that I said in my original post that these
fish did not have the rubbed noses or tails that most stocked fish have and that all
of their fins were intact. They were caught between the first non-passsable dam and
the fish ladder in Newmarket. It would have been nice had they been tagged. Then
this mystery would be solved.
