Don't forget that you'll need to get a decent flyline to go with the rod. The right line can make a less expensive rod cast better (just as the wrong line can make it cast worse). Plan on spending $45 to about $55 or $60 for a good line from Scientific Anglers, Cortland, or a few other companies. ('ve got lines from a few different manufacturers and they all have their pros and cons, but I prefer Scientific Anglers Striper line. I've been told that people have had problems with this line, but it always seem to cast very well for me. I've had some problems with tangling very early or very late in the season when the water is cold - but other than that the line is excellent.
