I'm posting my personal thoughts on the touchy topic of anonymity at the request of a user who posted in a different thread and asked that Reel-Time not discontinue the option of posting anonymously as she is a member of the opposite sex. I could go on at pedantic length about my personal feelings towards anonymity. I strongly feel it is called for when someone needs to report a crime, cast a ballot, or express an opinion which could cause them injury if their true identity was found out. The reason I ask that the users of this forum post at least their name is simple: we've had jerks who have pretended to be people they aren't. Also, there is a direct correlation between ad hominen attacks, obscenities, and general nasty flame like behaviour and anonymous posters. That said, I would not turn on an anonymous filter even if this board had that option. So post away dear reader, you'll find you'll get a better reception, and build a good rep if you do it under a name, at least a nickname, that we can identify you with. David Churbuck Reel-Time
