Never tried thinning it, but it is definitely tolulene based. Never managed to use more that 2/3 of a jar before it got thick and cloudy, but I took that as a cost of doing business.

As far as the question about softex and ex-body, dip away. It doesn't dissolve the ez-body, although it's been a while and I stick with Sally Hansen because the drying time is measured with the minute hand of the watch, rather than hour hand. A thin, hard fixer coat is all that's needed and Sally Hansen or the Loon (which I haven't used) is the stuff.
