A great option for you would probably be to hire a guide for a half day of fishing in the Boston Area. There are several listed here with Reel Time (including myself).
You'll get a chance to have one-on-one instruction as well as actually do some fishing. Most half day trips will be in the $175 - $275 range, and should really give you a good introductions.
