I imagine you take more care in the construction and snugging down the knots than is taken with the pre-tied jobs....I'm not sure what they use (blood knot, etc.) I always use back to back nail knots to join my leader sections unless I'm in a hurry. Then I use "surgeons knots" to join the sections. In either case, I can't recall ever having had a section separate.......:-)
