I had a similar problem with the Orvis Super Stong tippet material. Bought a bunch of spools on sale and found it was all a good bit weaker than the listed test. I think they sell them off when their old. The short of it is, I lost a very good fish (during a tournament!) and I would never buy tippet material 'on sale' again.
