i started to fly fish about four years ago. it was more than a coincidence
that i started to work in the brokerage business @ about the same time. for me,
fishing is not only a hobby, it is a necessary distraction as well. in the be-
ginning, i would drive around all Sat. or Sun. looking for good freshwater spots
to fish, trying in vain to cast more than 30' w/ my brand new l.l. bean outfit.
things eventually improved and many trout and bass later, i started to become
interested in saltwater flyfishing. after buying a Loomis GL3 10 wt. rod as
well as a Sage 8 wt. RPL, i was committed to catching something BIG... strange-
ly enough, my 1st real taste came in Fla. where i went after redfish, snook and
seatrout. there, i learned the importance of stealth, tides, wind, current,
etc...
i went fishing a few times in the past 2 yrs. w/ adam albino who was kind
enough to drag me along to monomoy island, centerville beach and poppy - no
luck. last oct. during the very end of the season, i finally hooked up w/ a
small schoolie on the end of poppy's spit. despite the cold, wind and rain, i
was still very happy to catch my 1st striper on a fly (thanks to mr. clouser).
the fishing seems to get better all the time and the fact that i can keep tabs
on what is going on (whether in n. england or fla.) thru reel-time is an added
bonus. i've learned a lot thru the postings of others and it's nice to see that
other people feel the same way about fly-fishing as i do.
