45, two teenage daughters, wonderful wife, 1/2 a dog (cock-a-poo), run a small biotech company in the Boston area, live in the western suburbs. Having just read what I typed it sounds pretty yuppy-ish except for the avid outdoorsman part. First striper caught was last year with a unique guide (Bruce Scott) in Nauset Inlet. Bought a 20' CC and am now hopelessly addicted. Everyday is an adventure. From learning how to be able to make it back to port to actually catching a few stripers. I can't tell you how valuable RT has been. Thanks to the gratiousness of Larry B. I've been spending much of my time fishing the Wacky Bay area.....don't worry Larry, I don't catch too many and I don't keep any. There's something about the raw beauty of Monomoy and the surrounding shoals that I find really attractive although I've haven't caught nearly as many fish out there as the South Cape. Haven't taken the fly fishing plunge yet but that will come. I grew up fly fishing for trout. I'm an a
vid whitetail bowhunter. (BTW, a friend of mine runs the #1 bowhunting website, www.bowsite.com) People ask me what I like better, fishing or hunting. That's easy, during fishing season it is far and away fishing, during the bow season, the easy winner is bowhunting. Two little commentaries: (1)as a newcomer to RT (as well as the web), and after reading the "flame-fests", so-called personal attacks and controversial "heated" threads, it really isn't that bad and it is in no way so bad that we should consider banning certain topics, censoring certain participants, segregating certain topics to other sites, etc...Hey we're all outdoorsmen so none of us can be that bad! (2) Although it's easy for me to say as a newcomer, giving general information on the location of spots that hold fish by no means jeopardizes that spot. As you know, knowing the general location means you're about 10% there. Giving a new comer some hope results in more quickly converting that guy into an advocate
which in turn adds to our ranks which in turn benefits the sport. One last point, I'm always looking for someone to join me on the boat. Would gladly trade a boat ride for a little knowledge. RT IS WONDERFUL.
