If fishing from shore or from a flats style boat, it seems that a fly cast within view of a bonito or "albie" is hit when presented wounded, or with an erratic slow movement. This presentation has worked many times for me in comparison to fast retrieves that failed. Also if a fly is rejected, changing to a radically smaller or larger pattern does produce success.
