Big Trout and Salmon

Hey Gang,
If anyone wants to cut some serious time off that countdown clock and fend off
some cabin fever I might be able to help. There is a lake here in N.H. that the
water resources people screwed up big time. They pulled too many planks when they
did the annual water level drop this fall. They dropped the water level lower
than anyones ever seen it and in the process flushed MANY Rainbow Trout,Lake
Trout and Landlocked Salmon out of the lake and into the river. This lake is
experiencing a smelt population explosion and the quality of the fish is
outstanding. Many Lake trout were taken last year 8-20#,Rainbows average 3-4#
with some going twice that and the Salmon average 3# with some going 5 or more.
I'm not sure how much of a pounding this place would take if I posted the
location to the masses but I know I dont want to hurt the fishery.Jays survey
showed me you guys are overwhelmingly catch and release so if anyones interested
in some flyfishing amongst the ice covered rocks send me an e-mail and I'll
send you details. In exchange,I'd like some tips on catching winter trout in
a river if you have any.I plan on hitting it myself as soon as conditions
improve. It looked pretty treacherous last week.ICE EVERYWHERE!A good 3-4 day
thaw ought to do it.For a gameplan I'm guessing a super fast sink line, short
leader,weighted wolly buggers,beadheads ect. fished slow and deep?Maybe a
couple of us could hook up and try the river together. Now lets see,Where are
those glacier gloves? Merrill
