I'm kicking around the idea of getting a new combo for fishing the Canal. I would like something that I could chunk with, through jigs, and plugs. I would like the rig to work well with 25 to 30 lb line. Am I dreaming? Is there something that doesn't cost an arm or a leg to get what I'm asking for? I would like to get by in the $200 dollar range.
I'm presently using a spinning combo that consists of a penn 7500 and a 9' penn power stick. I have gotten by with this rig, but it has trouble in the plugging area. If I'm planning on plugging I need to make sure the spool is full. One break or tangle takes a lot off the casting range.
