My best luck with Dannys has ONLY been when there are big baits around, like
herring or menhaden. And the last 10 years has seen a decline in these baits
(especially in-shore menhaden, although RI last fall showed a promising upswing).
The reason why I keep using the Danny is that, when the fish are keying in on
it, it often hooks bigger fish than with other methods. Still I usually only
use it in spring and fall, and only in situations where castability is not a
requirement for catching fish.
