i've had the 21/2 oz sink on me also. if your actually casting that far your probably throwing a conventioal. the gibbs 31/2 "special" pencil popper sinks also . the trick is to cut off your cast a few yds short of hitting the water. it's the delay between hitting the water,engaging your reel,retrieving thye slack, and all this time the plug sinks. cast slightly down current, cut your cast a bit short , and engage and retrieve sooner and this should solve the problem.
