I've been trying Fireline and various braided lines all season, invariably giving up in disgust, and then trying again in a month or so. The distance is great, which is why I keep trying, but the line invariably snaps on a cast, and a lure goes sailing off. Checked with folks at Eastmans and Red Top, and they both report the same problem with casting, particularly heavy plugs with 20-30 lb test.
I have a spool with 60 lb braid which I use for offshore stand up, and there it works great. If anyone knows how to keep from snapping fireline while casting, I'd love to know.
