I have been using Fireline for two years on a much lighter outfit designed to catch schoolies. My usual bait is a slug-go on a jig head. The rods are medium action (freshwater) 6 1/2', my reels are Shamino 4000, and my line is 10# test Fireline. Occasionly I will "snap" off a lure but it can be attributed to failing to retie after catching many fish.
My suggestion is to always use a Palomar knot, It really works. By the way I know that Fireline is expensive initially, but I'm into my second year with the same line.
