The mini conclave for RI on Friday was pushed back to Sunday due to high winds but I decided to head down anyway. Was I glad that I did. After high winds pushed me away from Watch Hill and the next beach north of it, I happened upon Wakapaug (sp?). I don't know the area so I drove along the coast looking for fishy areas. Anyway, long story short, I am really glad I went down. Wakapaug was on fire. Thousands of bait fish pushed up against the southern part of the beach to the rocks. Blues and bass feeding everwhere. Hundreds of Gulls. I fished both a spinning and fly rod with surface action plugs and flys. Total count was somewhere between 30 to 40 Stripers 20" to 28". Most were around 23" or 24". I also caught 2 Blues. Highlight of the day that was the highlight of my season was catching a 15# blue in the rocky area. Nailed the pencil popper and took off. That was the first Blue I have caught in a long while. Man they can fight. At one point I looked around and 10 out
of 15 guys had fish on. One of those can't miss days. Good luck to all those that are going Sunday. I hope it keeps up.
